Our lord of the flies

The novel “Lord of the Flies” (author: William Golding) is about a group of boys who find themselves on a deserted island after a plane crash. At first, they try to create order and rule, but over time, fear, power struggles and violence destroy their community.

The novel shows that civilization and laws restrain the aggression and chaos in man. When these restrictions are removed, people can quickly slide into violence, mob thinking, and savagery.

“Lord of the Flies” shows how easy it is to divide people into “us” and “them”.

In the novel, the boys are initially one community, but gradually they split into groups due to fear, false danger and the struggle for power. One group begins to see the other not as friends, but as enemies. The result is hatred, violence and tragedy.

The moral meaning can be formulated as follows:
– When society is divided into opposing camps, solidarity and trust weaken.
– Fear and propaganda can make people see enemies even among their own kind.

– Crowd thinking often suppresses reason and individual responsibility.
– Civilization is preserved thanks to dialogue, law and mutual respect, not by “us versus them” logic.

For this reason, the novel is often interpreted as a warning to societies. when one group of people is pitted against another, not one side wins, but chaos.
