Armenian and U.S. officials discuss issues related to boosting trade

Tigran Petrosyan, Head of the Food Safety Inspectorate Body of the Republic of Armenia, held a meeting with Rishan Chaudhry, Agricultural Attaché, USDA, U.S. Embassy in Türkiye; Demna Dzirkvadze, Senior Agricultural Affairs Specialist, USDA, U.S. Embassy in Georgia; and Edward Eichler, Chief of the Economic and Commercial Section, U.S. Embassy in Armenia.

The inspection agency said in a press release that the meeting addressed issues related to the export of agricultural products and flowers from Armenia to the United States, as well as transit shipments to other countries via Türkiye, the issuance of phytosanitary certificates, ensuring product traceability, registration of economic operators in the TRACES system, maximum allowable levels of residue substances in products, and the development of laboratory capacity.

The parties, while examining issues hindering the development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, emphasized the importance of implementing joint steps to overcome them.

An agreement was reached to deepen cooperation between the authorized bodies of the two countries, which is expected to contribute to increased trade turnover, the strengthening of economic ties, and the diversified development of the market.
