The values included in the list of intangible cultural heritage are important expressions of the cultural originality, historical memory and national identity of the Armenian people. The basis for the implementation of this process is the Resolution N 310-A of March 11, 2010 of the Government of Armenia “On the standards for the compilation of the lists of intangible cultural values of the Republic of Armenia and the dissemination of the list of intangible cultural heritage values”. The initiative stems from the 2023-2027 strategy for the preservation, development and popularization of the culture of the Republic of Armenia approved by the decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia No. 1951-L of November 9, 2023, within the framework of which a systematic inventory of the intangible cultural heritage of Armenia is being implemented.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
