Commemorative event held in Kyiv for Armenian Genocide anniversary

A commemoration ceremony marking the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was held in Kyiv, Ukraine, the Union of Armenians of Ukraine said in a press release.

“Representatives of the Armenian community of Kyiv, the Union of Armenians of Ukraine, clergy of the Armenian Apostolic Church led by Bishop Markos Hovhannisyan, representatives of Ukrainian churches, and diplomats from the embassies of Armenia and friendly countries attended the event,” the press release said.

The ceremony took place in central Kyiv near a khachkar dedicated to the memory of Ukrainian and Armenian victims of the 20th century.

According to the statement, commemorative events were also held in many regions of Ukraine, where the security situation allowed.
