They should not allow Pashinyan’s party to overcome the minimum threshold

Armenia is moving towards crucial parliamentary elections on June 7, and their importance cannot be overstated.

There is a sense of fatigue, frustration, and discontent across the country as a result of eight years of national upheaval, loss, all kinds of failure, and uncertainty about the future.

At the same time, these elections are taking place in a new political environment, where a number of serious and reliable opposition political blocs have already formed, which stand out for their programs, experience and management ability. Separately or together, these alliances can provide a clear parliamentary majority.

In any case, under the conditions of this reality, the goal of the opposition and the Armenian society should not be only to prevent Pashinyan from getting a simple majority, but also to prevent his party from even passing the minimum threshold to enter the parliament.

Ultimately, these elections are about turning the real sentiments of the Armenian society into a clear political outcome. The conditions are there: a disaffected electorate, a disappointed, discouraged and humiliated society, reliable and prospective peace and development programs, as well as a general awareness that the current course is unacceptable.

If the collective opposition and the voters act with clarity and purpose, the result can be not only a simple change of power, but also a radical and complete political restructuring.

Indeed, there is a great opportunity not only to change the government, but also to close once and for all and erase from memory a phase that is already considered the most difficult and humiliating time of the country, and open a new one based on dignity, responsibility, capacity and national recovery.
