ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT GRANTS AMNESTY TO 300 CONVICTS

Yerevan, 7 July: The Armenian National Assembly today passed a
resolution on granting amnesty to mark the 15th anniversary of the
republic’s independence.
About 300 convicts, who committed crime before 1 June 2006, will
be released under the amnesty, Armenian Justice Minister David
Arutyunyan said.
In accordance with the parliament’s resolution, the amnesty cannot
be granted to inmates who committed serious crimes and to those who
deliberately violated prison regulations.
