POLITICAL EXPERT: KARABAKH CONFLICT ZONE SITUATION TO ESCALATE

At a press conference in Yerevan Caucasus Institute Director Sergey
Minasyan said that the Karabakh conflict zone situation would escalate.
According to him, Baku keeps using the Karabakh-Azerbaijan line of
contact situation as leverage on Azerbaijan’s domestic policy and as
a means of pressure on Armenia and the international community.
The expert stated that Azerbaijan’s behaviour resulted in the country’s
ignorance towards the calls of OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to refrain
from actions or statements that would cripple the peaceful settlement’s
negotiations process.
Minasyan is sure that Azerbaijan will keep escalating the situation
up to April 24 – the centennial of the Armenian Genocide.
He also believes that Baku is not considering Armenia’s
surprise-response during the European Olympic Games in summer 2016.
