TURKISH SCHOLAR: ISLAMIC STATE HAS REMEMBERED ARMENIAN GENOCIDE
11:55, 13.03.2015
The Armenian Genocide claimed millions of lives and tormented the
fate of thousands of women.
Ugur Umit Ungor, a Dutch scholar of Turkish origin, stated the
aforesaid at a conference in the Hague, and devoted to the Armenian
Genocide, reported the Reformatorisch Dagblad newspaper of the
Netherlands.
“The difference between the [Armenian] Genocide and the [Jewish]
Holocaust is that the women and girls were not always killed during the
Armenian Genocide. Maybe some would say, ‘at least they were saved,’
but they were raped and forced to cohabit with Turks and Kurds for
numerous years; and this is a tragedy which you can’t escape.
Genocide is not only taken, but also tormented lives,” the Turkish
scholar noted.
He added that the tragedy of Deir ez-Zor, Syria, continues today.
“How do the Islamic State militants explain their murders? [They say]
the people [there] have to die, since Armenians also were among their
forebears,” Ungor noted.
