ARMENIA’S TOTAL PUBLIC DEBT DROPS BY 1.8% TO $4,357.8 BILLION IN JANUARY 2015
YEREVAN, March 2. /ARKA/. Armenia’s total public debt stood at $4,357.8
billion at the end of January 2015, having dropped by 1.8% or $8369
million from the previous month, the National Statistical Service
(NSS) said.
According to official data, Armenia’s external debt fell by 2.5%
or $97.3 million to $3,687.8 million.
Of that amount about $3,263 million were owed by the government,
a decrease of 2.4% or $82.2 million from the previous month.
Also about $424.8 million of the external debt were owed by the
Central Bank of Armenia. This figure decreased $15.1 million from
December, 2014.
The government’s domestic debt decreased by 2% or $13.7 million to
$670 million in late January. Of that amount about $597.8 million
were owed by the government to resident buyers of government bonds.
The debt in foreign currency bonds amounted to $66 million. Also $4
million were owed as loans and $2.1 million as government guarantees.
