RUSSIAN CONSCRIPT SOLDIERS IN ARMENIA WILL BE REPLACED WITH CONTRACT SERVICEMEN

Next year, the Defense Ministry plans to man personnel of the 102nd
military base located in Armenia only with contract servicemen. A
source in the General Staff reported this. The source said, “The last
conscript servicemen ill leave the 102nd Russian military base
stationed in Armenia in spring of 2016.” The source states that such
decision is not associated with murder of the family of six people in
Gyumri that has been confessed by serviceman of the base Valery
Permyakov. The 102nd Russian military base is located in Gyumri, 126
kilometers to the north of Yerevan. The base was created in 1995. The
102nd base is a part of the united air defense system of the CIS and
is armed with air defense missile systems S-300V and MiG-29 fighters.
Personnel of the base consists of about 4,000 people.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
