European Youth Chess Championship 2014 U18 was over yesterday evening
in Batumi, Georgia. As we have informed the delegation of Armenian
Chess Federation was also taking part in this important tournament.
The delegation of Armenian Chess Federation will return with a gold
and 2 silver medals. In the boys’ group under 10 Mamikon Gharibyan
from Gyumri got an excellent result scoring 7.5 points from possible 9
and became the champion of Europe. Aram Hakobyan playing in the boys’
group under 14 scored the similar points taking the silver medal.
Mariam Lazarian playing in the girls’ group under 10 scoring 7 points
also took silver medal. Some our representatives took places among the
top 10 , the others significantly improved their individual ratings.
