Komitas’ music part of Armenian identity – Grigor Danielyan

Today marks the 145th birthday anniversary of the great Armenian
composer Komitas (Soghomon Soghomonian).
Musician and musicologist Grigor Danielyan (Daniel Yerazhisht)
believes that Komitas’ music is part oif the Armenian people’s
identity and a lifestyle.
“Komitas’ music is a lifestyle for us because our national identity is
endangered. Komitas is not an ordinary composer nor are his
compositions are ordinary. His mission has not yet been accomplished.
Komitas’ works appeal to our souls to improve them, not only to please
them,” Mr Danielyan told Tert.am.
