Azerbaijani FM: “Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement may open up new
opportunities for South Caucasus region”

Baku – APA. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has
received delegation lead by the chairman of the Board of the
German-Azerbaijani Forum Hanns-Eberhard Schleyer and MP, chair of the
Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with the States of the
Southern Caucasus Karin Strenz, APA reports quoting official website
of the Ministry.

E. Mammadyarov expressed his satisfaction with the relations between
Azerbaijan and Germany, as well as invited German companies to play
more active role in different spheres of Azerbaijan’s economy,
especially in non-oil sector.

Speaking about regional peace and security, Mammadyarov stressed that
unsettlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict is a main impediment to
regional progress. He said that the Nagorno Karabakh conflict
settlement may open up new opportunities for South Caucasus region and
for settlement of this conflict, Armenian should firstly liberate
Azerbaijan’s occupied territories.

Mammadyarov also underlined that the parliamentary diplomacy has a
great role in the development of cooperation among the countries.

Hanns-Eberhard Schleyer informed about activity of the
Germany-Azerbaijani Forum and noted that this organization aims to
contribute to deepening of political, economic and cultural ties
between two countries. He stressed Azerbaijan’s role in regional peace
and ensuring of the stability.

MP, chair of the Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with the
States of the Southern Caucasus Karin Strenz said he is in sympathy
with Azerbaijan and noted that the mutual visits of the members of
parliament play an important role in the development of relations.

They also discussed other issues of mutual interesting at the meeting.
