Armenian foreign minister set to visit Turkey for ErdoÄ?an’s inauguration

26 August 2014

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian has announced his
attendance to President-elect Recep Tayyip ErdoÄ?an’s inauguration
ceremony in Ankara on Aug. 28, according to the country’s Foreign
Ministry spokesman Tigran Balayan.

According to media reports, Nalbandian will use the occasion to
clarify whether ErdoÄ?an will accept an invitation to take part in the
official commemorations in Yerevan of the 100th anniversary of the
Ottoman killings of Armenians, which Armenia and other countries refer
to as `genocide,’ in 2015.

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has recently congratulated ErdoÄ?an
as Turkey’s president and said he is hopeful the president-elect will
greatly contribute to the establishment of bilateral relations between
Armenia and Turkey without any prerequisites.

More than 20 heads of states and governments have announced their
attendance for the official ceremony when outgoing President Abdullah
Gül will hand over office to ErdoÄ?an.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
