Appeal to re-consider lawsuit against Syunik governor rejected

An appeal against a court ruling not to initiate prosecution against
Surik Khachatryan, the governor of Syunik, has been rejected.

The appeal was filed by Hayk Alumyan, a legal successor for Avetik
Budaghyan, the aggrieved.

Budaghyan, a former candidate for the mayor of Goris, was killed in a
shoot-out outside Khachatryan’s house on June 1, 2013.

The claimant now intends to lodge a proceeding with the Court of Appeals.

Asked whether he thinks that the rejection was in any way linked with
Khachatryan’s name, Alumyan said that could have been the only reason
behind such a ruling.
