DAVUTOGLU’S YEREVAN VISIT SIMULATION OF PROGRESS IN ARMENIA-TURKEY RELATIONS – EXPERT

YEREVAN. – The visit of Turkish FM to Yerevan is a step aimed at
simulation of progress in Armenia-Turkey relations ahead of the 100th
anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, analyst Haykazun Alvrtsyan said.

There is nothing special about his visit as Davutoglu is coming for
the BSEC ministerial, he noted.

“Taking into account the recent regional developments, Turkey wants to
create an image, to remind of its presence. Turkish press reports about
alleged transfer of two regions to Azerbaijan are the last attempt
of putting forward preconditions by Turkey. But, unfortunately, it
is not victory of the Armenian MFA. Most likely the reason for such
reports is the statement by Vladimir Putin about Russia’s further
strengthening in the Caucasus,” Haykazun Alvrtsyan added.

The analyst believes that repeated statements by Davutoglu on
normalization of relations with Armenia with preconditions prove
failure of Ankara’s foreign policy. After a meeting in Yerevan the
neighboring Turkey will adopt new tactic, he resumed.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
