ARMENIA’S POPULATION DROPS BY 265,000 IN ONE YEAR – NEWSPAPER

YEREVAN. – The population of Armenia continues to drop, and this fact
is shown even in the official statistics, Zhoghovurd daily reports.
“According to the recent report which the Armenian National Statistical
Service issued, Armenia’s population stands at 3,017,000 people,
as of October 1. But the population was 3,282,000 a year ago.
“That is to say, the population of Armenia has dropped by 265,000 in
one year.
“To note, primarily the urban population [of the country] has declined,
[reaching] from 2,101,200 to 1,913,400 [people],” Zhoghovurd writes.
