Dortmund Overwrite Gotze Shirts With Mkhitaryan

DORTMUND OVERWRITE GOTZE SHIRTS WITH MKHITARYAN

12:15 01.11.2013

Borussia Dortmund have developed a smart marketing strategy by selling
the shirts of a former player, putting them on sale and overwriting
the name with their new signing, espnfc.com reports.

The 2013 Champions League finalists started a sale this week in order
to get rid of old No. 10 Mario Gotze jerseys following his move to
Bayern Munich in the summer. Dortmund put them on the shelves for
only 29 euros when they were previously 85 euros, according to German
tabloid Bild.

But the club also put a twist on the offer by adding a huge yellow
sticker on the back with new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s name on it.

The Armenia international joined Dortmund as Gotze’s replacement
and took his old number, but never wore the 2012-2013 jersey, giving
Dortmund fans an incentive to snap them up.

Despite receiving 37 million euros from Bayern for the sale of Gotze,
it appears that Dortmund are still finding clever ways to cash in on
the 21-year-old.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
