Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan visited today the village
of Avetaranots to attend the unveiling ceremony of a memorial to the
fighters who died in the Artsakh Liberation War.

The President underlined in his speech that we have to always remember
our martyrs’ feat and heroism, do our utmost to realize their wishes
and desires among which free, independent state and its continuous
strengthening is the most sacramental one.

According to President Sahakyan, the memorial should become a place
of pilgrimage to remind of the past, make us proud of our heroes and
thus fill with hope and optimism for the future.

The Artsakh leader presented state awards to a group of the village’s
freedom fighters.

Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church
Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan and other officials were present at
the event, reported the Central Information Department at the Artsakh
President’s Office.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
