President Serzh Sargsyan addressed the participants in the 35th meeting
of the CIS Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services
in Tsakhkadzor, Armenia, Wednesday.

“Rhetoric of hate and arms race amid unresolved conflicts are serious
threats to overall security of the CIS area,” says the president’s
message that was read out at the event.

“International terrorism, transnational crime, natural and man-caused
disasters are few of the challenges the world faces today. Disastrous
and tragic aftermaths of today’s challenges and threats make us
search new, more effective measures to counteract them. Escalation of
conflicts, rhetoric of hate and arms race amid unresolved conflicts
are serious threats to overall security of the CIS area. All this
is aggravating tensions and creating explosive situations,” Serzh
Sargsyan says in his message.

The president is sure that the security agencies and special services
have a special part in prevention and counteraction to the above
challenges and threats due to their consolidation, resistance and
high professional skills.

“I hope the 35th meeting of the Council will become an important step
in the way towards strengthening of confidence and enhancement of
cooperation between our countries,” the president says in his message.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
