ARMENIAN GOVERNMENT APPROVES NEW CONCEPT FOR NON-METALLIC ORE PROCESSING

YEREVAN, October 10. / ARKA /. The Armenian government has approved
today a new concept for non-metallic ore processing. Energy and
natural resources minister Armen Movsisyan said a number of legal
and institutional reforms were being affected in this sector aimed
at harmonizing its management with international standards.

The concept calls for improvement the quality of local nonmetal
products to make them competitive at international markets, assistance
in fund-raising, provision of preferential terms and assisting in
the implementation of expertise.

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan noted that the concept has been highly
anticipated and had been discussed also with the private sector.

According to official statistics, in January -August 2013 production of
non-metallic mineral products totaled 32.6 billion drams, a 1.7 percent
rise compared to the same period last year ($ 1 – 406.20 drams). -0-
