ARMENIA’S JEWELRY PRODUCTION FELL BY 32.3 PERCENT TO 9.7 BILLION DRAMS IN JAN-JUN

YEREVAN, August 2. /ARKA/. Armenia’s jewelry production in
January-April 2013 dropped by 32.3% year-on-year to 9.7 billion drams,
ArmStat reports.

In terms of weight, the output was 590.4 kg in January-June 2013,
down from 636.8 kg produced in the same period of 2012 (a reduction
of 7.3%).

Diamond production totaled 47,531 carats, an increase of 75.8%
compared to January-June 2012.

Total exports of precious and semi-precious stones, precious metals
and jewelry items rose by 8.5% from a year earlier to $89.3 million.

According to Armenia’s customs service, diamond exports amounted
to $43.5 million in the first half of the year, an increase of 7.6%
