SERJ TANKIAN BACKS RIGHTS WATCHDOG BID CONDEMNING TURKEY

System of a Down vocalist Serj Tankian has joined the Amnesty
International’s petition, condemning the Turkish authorities for
violence against the Gezi Park protesters.
In a Facebook post, he has described the country as a “sad reality of
a polarized society” receiving the West’s support as a model middle
eastern “democracy” which exercises “powerful control” over the media.
“Turkey needs a strong awakening of this type-hopefully the
beneficiaries will be justice, equity, historical reflection and the
like instead of more repression,” reads the singer’s post.
