Armenia has been currently discussing the issue of sending officer
instructors to Mali. This was reported to Armenpress by the
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia
Artsrun Hovhannisyan, adding that the issue is still in the discussion
process.

Artsrun Hovhannisyan stated that the Armenian peacekeepers enjoy
a high reputation, which is proved by the suggestions sent by many
countries to provide corresponding mission there. The Spokesperson
of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia noted that
these issues are decided not by the Ministry, but the authorities of
the country.

Forming the peacekeepers’ forces in 2001, Armenia expressed readiness
to have its contribution in the settlement of the problems faced by
the international community. Currently three subdepartments of the
peacekeepers’ brigade of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia
carry out peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan and Kosovo, upholding
the honor and respect of the Armenian soldier by their daily hard
and responsible service.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
