Prov. church & farm store reach deal
Zoning Board of Review approves plans for Cluck!
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – A deal has been reached to end a dispute
between a Providence church and the owners of a planned farm-supply
store that wants to open across the street.
The Providence Journal reports officials at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian
Apostolic Church dropped their zoning fight against plans for the
store on Broadway.
In return, the owners of CLUCK! agreed to limit the number of bees and
chicks displayed at the store, hide coops with vegetation, not open on
Sunday’s until after noon, and allow the church to use its lot for
parking on Sunday mornings.
With the deal in place, the Zoning Board of Review approved plans for
the store, without one provision sought by neighbors — a list of what
the store could and could not sell.
