April 26, 2013 | 12:51

YEREVAN. – Russian Federation Ambassador to Armenia, Vyacheslav
Kovalenko, who soon will complete his diplomatic mission in Armenia,
criticized Europe.

Speaking at the first Eurasian youth forum – entitled `One Step
Forward’ – which got underway in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan on
Friday, Kovalenko noted that, `The Eurasian space is imposed upon no
one, [and] it does not require from the participating countries to
fulfill conditions on the precept of `More for More.”

To note, in its relations with the participants in the Eastern
Partnership Project, the European Union is guided by the aforesaid
principle.

`We believe that this approach is incorrect. Everyone is free to
control its destiny. I do not think that you will ever vote in favor
of same-sex marriages – as a value of European civilization – in Armenia,
or in other countries,’ the Russian ambassador stressed.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
