Armenia’s Aronian to compete in Alekhine Memorial

Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian – who plays first board for the
three-time World Chess Olympiad champion Armenian national team and
who is currently ranked second in the World Chess Federation (FIDE)
Ratings – will take part in the Alexander Alekhine Memorial chess
tournament, which will be held from Sunday to May 1 in Paris, France,
and in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

The official opening of the event will be held in Paris on Saturday.

The first five rounds of the tournament will be held between Sunday
and April 25 at the Louvre Museum in Paris, and the final four will
take place from April 28 to May 1 at the Russian State Museum in Saint
Petersburg.

The prize money for the competition is 100,000 euros.

At the tournament, Levon Aronian will compete against GMs Anand,
Kramnik, Svidler, Gelfand, Adams, Vachier-Lagrave, Ding Liren,
Fressinet, and Vitugov.
