VILLAGES ARE MOST IMPORTANT – ARMENIAN OPPOSITION LEADER

April 02, 2013 | 11:15

UJAN. – Each and every village resident must acknowledge that power
belongs to him and he is free to choose a government that will serve
him. Armenia’s opposition Heritage Party Chairman, former FM Raffi
Hovannisian-who was declared runner-up to the winner, incumbent
President Serzh Sargsyan, as a result of the presidential election
that was conducted on February 18, but who claims to be the real
winner in the vote-stated this in Ujan village of Aragatsotn Region,
Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informs.

“Each and every one of us has his own view, his own ideas. But on
February 18, we decided all together [that] the most important is the
village, where the breath of the state will be felt at every moment.

The village, which can provide for its residents, enabling them
to cultivate land, so that they would not abandon the edges of the
homeland and settle abroad,” Hovannisian said in particular.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
