TECHNICAL ASPECT OF RESOLUTION IMPORTANT FOR ARMENIAN PRESIDENTIAL RESIDENCE

Styopa Safaryan, Political Secretary of the Heritage party, believes
it is the technical aspect rather than the substance of the process
of resolving the issue that is of importance for the presidential
residence.

“The presidential residence is just gaining time,” Mr Safaryan told
Tert.am.

This shows that the presidential residence is unwilling to settle
the problem through negotiations.

With respect to Armenian Presidential Spokesman Armen Arzumyan’s
claims about ultimatums by Heritage party Chairman and ex-presidential
candidate Raffi Hovannisian, Mr Safaryan offered Mr Arzumyan and
any member of the presidential staff to show an ultimatum in Mr
Hovannisian’s letter.

With respect to the Armenian president’s schedule, Mr Safaryan said
that Mr Hovannisian proposed an alternative that “has nothing to do
with the schedule” – written communication.

“So if they cannot have a meeting, if Serzh Sargsyan is unwilling or
has no time or prefers a meeting at the presidential residence, he
can go on negotiating with Raffi Hovannisian in written form,” he said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
