11:49 ~U 07.02.13

The Armenian cabinet will discuss Thursday new procedures for the
rotation of diplomats and the list of the positions equivalent to
diplomatic services.

Under the Republic of Armenia Law on Diplomatic Service, a diplomat’s
minimum term of service in a foreign state is two years. The term can
be prolonged for no more than one year by the foreign minister’s
decision in case the head of the diplomatic mission in country
concerned presents an appropriate justification.

Upon necessity, the diplomat may be allowed to move to another mission
in the foreign state for no more than one year provided the total
length of his service in the given state does not exceed three years.

The foreign minister may sign a decree for organizing trainings for
certain diplomatic posts in a foreign country.

The rotation period is between months of December and January, and
July and August.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
