Iran welcomes the process aimed at entering Yerevan’s Blue Mosque on
UNESCO’s World Heritage List, Iran’s state-run news agency IRNA quoted
Masoud Alavian Sadr, deputy head of Iranian Cultural Heritage
Organization, as saying during a meeting with Azerbaijani Deputy
Minister of Culture and Tourism Nazim Samadov.

In response to Azerbaijan’s concerns that the mosque may be damaged
during the renovation process, the Iranian official said, in part, “In
a country where the state religion is Christianity, registering the
Blue Mosque as a religious monument creates more preconditions for its
preservation. Besides, Iranian specialists participated in the mosque
renovation.”

Earlier, Masoud Alavian Sadr told Iran’s news agency Fars in an
interview that during a meeting with Armenian Minister of Culture
Hasmik Poghosyan as part of her visit to Tehran, they reached an
agreement to take necessary action to enter Yerevan’s Blue Mosque on
the UNESCO’s World Heritage List after it is completely renovated.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
