YEREVAN, DECEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS. Despite the whole difficulties the
Asayans’ family will celebrate New Year in Armenia. In a conversation
with “Armenpress” the mother of the family Azniv Asayan stated:
“Indeed there are a lot of difficulties and inconveniences, but within
our powers we shall celebrate New Year cherishing a hope that the war
in Syria will end in the coming year. We would have already decorated
the Christmas Tree and bought new clothes, but now we cannot afford
a luxury to do whatever we used to.” In addition she stated that in
spite of the whole difficulties they are glad to celebrate New Year
in Armenia.

The Ayvazyans’ family also has to face with a number of problems,
including anguish, although the mother of the family has already
started to get ready for the New Year celebrations. Lilit Ayvazyan
stated: “The table is always full of various delicious dishis in
Syria. We used to make Armenian and Syrian dishes including sarma,
ishli kyufta, basturma, sausage, ham and many others.” But she added
that this year they will have to decorate the table in the range of
their capacity.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
