Donor conference on food safety system development being launched in Yerevan

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 12, ARMENPRESS: Donor conference dedicated to the
implementation of food safety system development strategy declared its
launch in Yerevan on December 12. As Armenpress reports Deputy
Minister of Agriculture Robert Makaryan stated food security is an
important component of the country’s security.
Taking into account the system is still in the development stage, a
strong system should be established aimed to secure the security of
the civilians. In the course of the recent years positive changes have
been orchestrated in legal regulations development system. Various
other legal regulations have been adopted in food security, in
particular “food security”,”forage”, ”veterinary medicine”,
“sanitarium” the deputy minister noted.
The interlocutor assures the responsibility of economic entities in
food producing sector is growing year by year. Food security system
development main directions are defined based on the best practices of
EU member states. Taking into consideration that the investment of
food security system in accordance with the requirements of EU demands
is complex, scientific, expensive and time-consuming process. So it is
expected it will be implemented by state and non-state parties, as
well as by donor community assistance.
