The paper says on November 29 Russian and Azerbaijani presidents had a
phone conversation during which, according to the official press
release, they discussed a number of Russian-Azerbaijani agenda issues.

The paper says some sources say they have particularly focused on the
Gabala radar rent issue by Russia. The paper says this issue has
become the main cause of tension between Russia and Azerbaijan.

The 10-year rent contract expires in December and for prolonging it
Baku demands 300 million USD annually instead of 7 million which
Moscow considers inadmissible.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
