WHY NO RUSH TO ACQUIRE ARMENIA’S NATIONAL AIRLINE CARRIER? – NEWSPAPER
November 28, 2012 | 06:46
YEREVAN. – “We are witnessing in recent months as to how Armavia
[Airline Company, which is Armenia’s national carrier] is going
bankrupt and they are discussing whose it will become. According to
rumors, [company’s proprietor] Mika Baghdasarov has no other choice
but selling the company,” Hraparak daily reports, and adds:
“But the rumors that a company is interested in Armavia are not turning
into a reality. [And] A businessman explained to us the reason: It
is meaningless to give several million dollars for something whose
value is a mere several hundred thousand [dollars].
The thing is that the deadline for the national airline carrier’s
license [to conduct flights] is expiring, and anyone who holds a claim
to acquire it can do that in a few months, [and] by way of obtaining
the license. But aside from a set of buildings and rundown computers
and office furniture, Armavia has nothing significant.”
