Armenian economic index suggests positive results

YEREVAN, Armenia, Nov. 22 – The Armenian economy ministry on Thursday
released an economic index suggesting that the economy has been
positive for the past 10 months.

Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan said taxes from the companies that
work in the field of economy paid 243.8 billion AMD (599 million U.S.
dollars) during the first 10 months of 2012. That’s an incease of
nearly 30 billion AMD (74 million U.S. dollars) compared with the same
period of the previous year.

Davtyan noted that the taxes from the field of economy are one third
of all taxes.

During January-October 2012, economic activity increased by 7.2
percent, with the industry increasing by 10 percent, tourism by 8.5
percent and services by 11 percent.

There is also increase in the export of Armenian products.

`In general, the picture for this 10 months’ economic development
shows positive dynamics,’ Davtyan said.
