As we have already informed you, GOAM refused to adopt the 100 percent
Proportional electoral system, which was initiated by NA ARF fraction.
“It’s obvious that this decision had been made because they know that
Majoritarian electoral system is one of the best means of reproduction
and they will not cut the stick they sit on”, said the head of ARF
fraction Armen Rustamyan to Yerkir.am.
Turning to the facts brought by GOAM, Rustamyan noted that they have
nothing to do with Armenia. He noted that it’s not like they find
the majoritarian electoral system bad, it’s just that it is good in
countries where there is developed democratic system through which
the nation is able to change its authorities.
“Up until now people were not able to change their authorities in RA”,
said he.
He also noted that oppositional candidate never wins at the
Majoritarian electoral system.
“Majoritarian electoral system is the advantage of the authorities,
they just need to run 41 meters instead of 131 to get to the point”,
noted Rustamyan and added that ruling Republican party is not against,
they just bring several reasons and mainly say that this isn’t the
right time.
