Circle Dance in Artsakh

CIRCLE DANCE IN ARTSAKH
AZG Armenian Daily #098, 31/05/2005
Karabakh diary
The circle dance of unity was held in Artsakh as well. It was organized
by the Culture Administration of NKR Ministry of Education, Culture
and Sport.
Khazanchetzotz Holy Savior church of Shushi was the center of the
event. But people gathered for the dance in Gandzasar and Qashatagh
as well.
As head of Artsakh diocese Archbishop Pargev Martirosian noted,
the circle dance around Mount Aragats was a prelude to the dance
around Ararat.
The dance around a mountain has another meaning too: it is a trace
of purely Armenian worship of mountains.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
