Some 2,000 troops will take part in a joint exercise called
Vzaimodeistviye (Cooperation) 2012, of the Collective Security Treaty
Organization Collective Rapid Reaction Force (CSTO KSOR) in Armenia
on September 15-19.

“The exercise will be held at the Bagramian training range,” CSTO
spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.

During the maneuvers, the collective security forces will tactically
deploy in the Caucasus region, he said.

“The total number of troops involved is around 2,000,” Zainetdinov
said.

The exercise will involve special forces and operational groups from
Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan,
as well as representatives from the International Committee of the
Red Cross, and international observers from the United Nations,
the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, and the CIS.

Initially the exercise was due to be held on September 3-8 but was
postponed at Armenia’s request for technical reasons.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
