EINASTO TO GET PRESTIGIOUS ASTROPHYSICS AWARD

Astrophysicist Jaan Einasto will split the Viktor Hambardumyan
international prize with Russian professor Igor Novikov, the Armenian
Academy of Sciences decided.

The prize, worth 500,000 US dollars, has been awarded since 2009
and recognizes top scholars for outstanding work in astronomy,
astrophysics and related fields.

Einasto is known as one of the discoverers of the large-scale structure
of the universe, often referred to as honeycomb structure.

The official award ceremony will take place on September 18 in Yerevan.
