PanARMENIAN.Net – Frontier Aygepar and Movses villages in Armenia’s
Tavush province appeared under Azerbaijani fire on May 8 night.
Movses mayor Lyudvig Aperyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that the
May 9 night was relatively peaceful in their community; Azerbaijanis
did not violate the ceasefire this time.
“Last night was a terrible one. They kept shooting at our village
houses. A fridge was damaged by a shot in a household; mostly the
roofs were hit by the fire. We have already got used to shootings,”
Aperyan said.
Mayor of Aygepar Andranik Aydinyan also told a PanARMENIAN.Net
reporter that the previous night saw the longest shootings since
ceasefire was established.
“They shot at our house walls, buildings, roofs. Fortunately, we have
no injuries. We already know that they [Azerbaijanis] switch off the
light in their village and start shooting at our houses at 10pm. As
soon as we see the lights go off, we know they are shooting. When
the lights are back, we breathe with relief,” rural head said.
On the eve of the 20 anniversary of Shoushi liberation, establishement
of Nagorno Karabakh’s Defense Army and the victory in the Great
Patriotic War on May 9, the Azerbaijani army violated the ceasefire
all night long at border line in Tavush province.
Nerkin Karmir Aghbyur, Aygepar, Movses and Chinari villages, only
400-500 meters away from the frontier, appeared under hours-long
fire attack.
