ARMENIAN CHESS PLAYERS SUCCESSFUL IN DUBAI OPEN FIRST ROUND

PanARMENIAN.Net – The first round of Dubai Open Chess Championship
kicked off on April 15.
Vladimir Akopian scored a win over Ali Elmejbri (Lebanon), Tigran L.
Petrosian beat Mihail Chommyyev (Turkmenistan), Robert Hovhannisyan
won John Bennett (England). Zaven Andriasian gained a victory over
Zhansaya Abdumalik (Kazakhstan), Avetik Grigoryan- Maria Blanco
(Venezuela), Davit Petrosian – Mama Ingcongan.
Karen Grigoryan beat Elnemr Mohamed (Egypypt). Vahe Baghdasaryan
was the only Armenian representative who lost to Shanepes Meredow
(Turkmenistan).
Dubai Open Chess Championship is held in 9 round Swiss system. The
winner will get USD 10 thous. Contestants to gain 2-3places will be
awarded USD 7 thous. and 4 thous. respectively.
