EXPERT: MISSILE DEFENSE DEPLOYMENT IN ARMENIA BENEFICIAL TO RUSSIA

PanARMENIAN.Net – Armenia’s missile defense system may join that of
CSTO, Armenian military expert said.
As Artsrun Hovhannisyan told a press conference, Armenian Prime
Minster’s words on possibility of having missile defense system
deployed in its territory meets Armenia’s interests.
The expert stressed the need for Russian to construct a new modern
system to reach the goals Gabala Radar Station initially was set
to ensure, even if it agrees with Azerbaijan on extension of the
station’s lease terms.
“Russia may agree on deployment of a new complex in Armenia. Besides,
Armenia’s geographic position allows for more effective operation of
missile systems,” Mr. Hovhannisyan said.
