TURKISH FILM DIRECTOR’S FILM ABOUT HRANT DINK TO BE PRESENTED DURING CANNES FILM FESTIVAL

Turkish student Ugur Egemen Ires was allowed to present his ‘Water
found its way’ movie during the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival.
As the Istanbul based Armenian paper Akos informs, Ugur Egemen Ires
had mentioned that he was very touched after reading Hrant Dink’s
‘Water found its way’ story which tells about a woman who was coming
to Turkey every year from France and in the end she dies in Svas
(Sebastia), Turkey.
“The story has a humanitarian spirit. I was very touched when I read
how the villagers took care of that woman. The story was very honest.
In 2012 I decided to turn the story into a short film. I met the staff
of Akos and Hrant Dink’s daughter. They wished that the spirit of the
story were preserved in the film. The villagers also have roles in the
film,” the young film director mentioned adding that while screening
the film he did not intend to participate in Cannes Film Festival.
