GEORGIAN CITIZEN STEALS BOOKS FROM ARMENIAN LIBRARIES

YEREVAN.- Armenia’s Special Investigation Service hold an investigation
into a case of robbery of valuable books from Armenia’s National and
Yerevan State University’s libraries.

The books were lost in 2010-2011. They total cost of the books is
estimated at several million Armenian drams.

The investigation revealed police officer Hambaryan and Georgian
citizen Azariashvili were involved in a conspiracy periodically visited
the storage of Armenian National Library in 2010-2011 managing to
rob about 150 books.

A robbery attempt was also made on December 26 but a four-member
criminal group was caught.

It was also revealed that Azariashvili persuaded the head of Yerevan
State University library sell him 19 books. A criminal case has
been launched.
