Mass emigration of Christians from the Middle East has started,
Director of the Oriental Studies Institute of the National Academy
of Sciences Ruben Safrastyan told the reporters today. “About two
million people left the Middle East countries,” Safrastyan said.

According to him, the process has been assessed by the President of
France as ethnic cleansing. The reason is that extremist organizations
have become more active, the economic condition worsened, and the
Christians feeling the danger started leaving the Arab countries.

“The revolutions that started in 2011 bring to power Islamist forces.

In such conditions the emigration of Christians seems unavoidable,”
the speaker said.

In any case, according to the specialist, Armenia must defend its
communities. All this is important not only for Armenians but the
countries were these processes are taking place.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
