ARMENIAN EMBASSY OPENED IN PRAGUE

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian had a meeting with the
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic Karel
Swarzenberg.
The Czech Foreign Minister congratulated Edward Nalbandian on the
occasion of opening of the Armenian Embassy in Prague, stressing that
the decision of the Armenian authorities to establish a diplomatic
mission in the Czech Republic will boost the development of bilateral
cooperation.
“During my visit three years ago we agreed to make additional efforts
to enhance the development of bilateral relations. Today we can state
that our relations have raised to a new level,” Minister Nalbandian
said.
According to Minister Nalbandian, opening of the Armenian Embassy in
Prague is an evidence of the willingness of the Armenian authorities
to deepen and expand the friendly partnership with the Czech Republic.
The interlocutors discussed Armenia-EU cooperation and the programs
implemented within the framework of the Eastern Partnership.
Edward Nalbandian briefed his Czech counterpart on the process of
resolution of the Karabakh conflict. The parties noted that there
was no alternative to peaceful settlement. The meeting of the Foreign
Ministers was followed by a joint press conference.
The same day Edward Nalbandian and Karel Swarzenberg attended the
solemn opening ceremony of the Armenian Embassy in Prague. Ambassadors
accredited in Prague, members of the Czech Parliament, representatives
of the Armenian community were present at the event.
Minister Nalbandian visited the Czech Senate to meet First Vice-Speaker
Premysl Sobotka and representatives of different political forces. At
the request of the Senators, Edward Nalbandian presented the main
directions and priorities of Armenia’s foreign policy.
Edward Nalbandian made a speech on Armenia’s foreign policy at the
Czech Association for International Affairs. Within the framework of
the visit he gave an interview to the “Lidove Noviny” newspaper.
