During the Nov 9 session of the Spitak division of the Council of the
ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), 9 RPA members were excluded
from the party because of their unbeseeming behaviour, Armenian MP from
the RPA Hovhannes Sahakyan said at today’s press conference in Yerevan.

“There is nothing strange in it. The party has always sifted the
indecent members, and I cannot understand the reaction of the Armenian
mass media”, Sahakyan said. He also pointed out that today Speaker of
Parliament Hovik Abrahamyan will send in his resignation. He explained
the early resignation of Abrahamyan by the latter’s intention to hold
the upcoming parliamentary election fairy and transparently.

“Certainly, he could resign later, but he wants to get ready for the
election thoroughly. And he thinks that his work in Parliament may
disturb him”, he said.

To remind, Abrahamyan accepted Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s
offer to head the RPA Election Staff. He will officially send in his
resignation on November 14.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
