PanARMENIAN.Net – Rumors are afloat that former Yerevan Mayor Gagik
Beglaryan may retake the position; according to different reports,
Vice Mayor Taron Margaryan may assume the post.

Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan resigned on December 8, 2010. The
decision was prompted by the incident between the Mayor and employee
of the presidential staff’s protocol department Aram Kandayan.

On October 28, 2011 current Mayor Karen Karapetyan announced his
resignation, citing another position to be assumed and personal
reasons behind the decision. According to Armenian media reports,
Karapetyan was offered the position of a deputy chairman of Gazprom
board of directors.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
