France Shows Some Love: On official visit Sarkozy says time for Turkey
to face history

French President Nicolas Sarkozy addressed a letter to his Armenian
counterpart Serzh Sargsyan expressing France’s support in Karabakh
settlement as well as sharing his impression of the recent visit
in Armenia.

“Be sure that France will always be with you during the whole
challenges you will have. And first of all France is with you in
the Nagorno-Karabakh issue peace settlement process,” the French
president said. “You managed to proof the courage and the feeling of
responsibility and it is adorable. I am sure that you will be able
to take the risk of peace for your country and region, so you will
leave your trace on Armenian future.”

Sarkozy, who visited Armenia as part of this South Caucasus tour on
October 6-7, in his letter points out the deep excitement he felt
at the Genocide Memorial Complex. “Be sure that France will not stop
its activities up to the time when the heirs recognize the crime made
their ancestors,” the letter reads.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
